6 Things to Do in Singer Island, FL

  • Amrit Ocean Resort and Residences | Luxurious Oceanfront Condos at Singer Island

Located in the city of Riviera Beach is Singer Island, a picturesque oceanfront neighborhood off the coast of Florida. Though any beach destination is a destination worth visiting, Singer Island is one place, in particular, you should add to your bucket list. Why? Because there is no shortage of things to do and see here . Whether you consider yourself an eco-adventurer and prefer scuba diving, kayaking and snorkeling or you’re more of the upscale city-slicker type, you’re guaranteed to find more than a few activities to occupy yourself while you’re here. Below are just six.

Hit the Beach

With miles of coastline, Singer Island is best known for its beaches. Head down to Singer Island Municipal Beach for a day of tanning, swimming, and surfing. If the beach is too crowded, don’t sweat it—there are 10 others nearby that are easy to access and open to the public, including Ocean Reef Park. Some of the county-run beaches offer picnic tables, playgrounds, and pavilions, so be sure to check out a new beach every day of your trip to find the one that best suits your needs.

Visit MacArthur Park

MacArthur Park, a state park, is located right on the peninsula and happens to be the only state park in all of Palm Beach County. The park was discovered in 1989 by John D. MacArthur, who happened upon some ecological marvels while exploring the area. The park, which has its own beach, contains four natural communities, each comprised of plant and animal life that naturally coexist together. The four communities are the beach, the maritime hammock, the estuary, and the rock reef.

In addition to observing nature and gaining an education, you can explore the park’s natural biking trails, go snorkeling off the coast or go scuba diving. If you feel so inclined, launch a kayak or canoe from the estuary’s Lake Worth Lagoon. After you work up an appetite, grill up some hot dogs and burgers, and have a picnic.

The park is open year-round, from 8 am until sunset. To help preserve the 100,000 acres of a unique ecosystem, the state asks for a small admittance fee.

Scuba Dive at Phil Foster Park

You can scuba dive at any of Singer Island’s beaches, but for an unforgettable experience, take a dive at Phil Foster Park, which Sport Diver Magazine dubbed “one of the best dive sites on the planet.” The site includes an 800-foot-long Artificial Reef and Snorkel Trail, which beginners and family groups alike enjoy. Head to Singer Island Outdoor Center to get outfitted with SUPs and kayaks. You can either adventure out on your own and take a dive or join a group. The local dive company, Pura Vida Divers, also offers lessons and certifications. If you feel comfortable exploring deeper waters, head out to the reef, where you’ll discover an ecosystem unlike any other.

Visit Peanut Island Park

Compared to MacArthur Park’s massive 100,000 acres, Peanut Island Park’s 80 acres seems inconsequential and not worth visiting. However, though easy to overlook this little gem, you shouldn’t. Peanut Island Park is often called Riviera Beach’s best-kept secret. Those who do know about it though, or who discover it by happenstance, find that the measly 80-acres offer a lot to do. Whether you want to spend the day fishing, boating, swimming or tanning, you can do it all at this location. The island also offers a scenic and fauna-lined path that takes you some of the best vantage points the island has to offer. If you get to this little patch of paradise and discover you don’t want to leave just yet, don’t. The park offers an area for tent camping.

Ocean Reef Park

Ocean Reef Park is more than a beach or a park — it’s an experience. Whether you’re a jogger, swimmer, tanner, biker or scuba diver, you will find it easy to spend the day at Ocean Reef Park. Walk along the park’s boardwalk to get up close and personal with the natural dune ecosystem that makes its home in the area. Explore the rock pools along the shore to observe schools of fish or gear up and take a dive to get up close and personal with them.

Because the park is county-owned, it also offers convenient amenities, including grills, picnic tables and a small playground for children. As its name suggests, the park is also, well, a park. In addition to stretches of sand, you will also find stretches of grass and walking trails. Parking is free, which is rare in Singer Island.

Visit a Spa

Singer Island is well-known for its spas and resorts, so if you do plan to visit the area, make the most of it by booking a stay at one of the more upscale resorts.
